At Gateway International High School, our Pre-Primary programme provides a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where young children feel safe, valued and excited to learn. For children from Nursery to PP2, we focus on the development of the whole child through play, exploration, creativity, movement and meaningful everyday experiences.

Young children learn best when they are actively involved in their surroundings. Our Pre-Primary classrooms encourage children to ask questions, explore new ideas, make choices and discover through hands-on experiences. Every activity is designed to make learning enjoyable while building communication, confidence, curiosity and independence.

Nursery — Discovering the World
Nursery is the beginning of a child’s school journey. Through stories, songs, movement, sensory experiences, creative activities and guided play, children become comfortable in the school environment while developing early communication, social skills and confidence.

PP1 — Exploring & Expressing
In PP1, children begin to develop stronger foundations in early literacy and numeracy while continuing to learn through creativity, conversation, exploration and play. Children are encouraged to express their ideas, work with others and become increasingly independent learners.
Create
PP2 — Growing Into Confident Learners
PP2 prepares children for the next stage of their educational journey. Children strengthen their early reading, writing and numeracy skills while exploring science, creative activities, problem-solving and collaborative learning. The focus is on developing confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
Our Pre-Primary classrooms are designed around the needs of young learners. Children have opportunities to move, explore, interact and learn through carefully planned experiences. Storytelling, music, art, sensory play, outdoor activities, puzzles, building, role play and simple STEM experiences make each day active and engaging.
Play is an important part of early childhood learning. Through both guided and independent play, children develop communication, cooperation, creativity and problem-solving skills. They learn to share ideas, express themselves, make decisions and understand the world around them.

Pre-Primary learning goes beyond the basics of ABCs and 123s. Children develop language through stories, conversations, rhymes and early writing activities. They explore numbers, shapes, patterns and simple mathematical ideas through practical experiences. Art, music, dance and creative activities encourage imagination, while outdoor play and movement support physical development.
At the same time, children learn important social and emotional skills such as friendship, empathy, cooperation, confidence and respect.

Our Pre-Primary programme introduces children to age-appropriate STEM and robotics experiences in a simple and engaging way. Through building activities, sequencing, patterns, creative challenges and basic problem-solving, children begin to understand how things work.
The focus is not on technical complexity, but on encouraging curiosity, creativity, experimentation and discovery.
Confidence
We encourage children to gradually become more independent in their everyday activities and learning. With patient guidance and encouragement, children learn to communicate their ideas, cooperate with others, make choices and take pride in their achievements.
